Michael Saylor Issues Another Accumulation Update

On September 21, Strategy’s Executive Chairman Michael Saylor posted on X, writing “a little more orange,” and attached a chart showing the company’s BTC holdings. The market often interprets such posts as hints of a buy-the-coin announcement. Previously, he had repeatedly posted similar hints on weekends, followed by the release of a formal accumulation plan on Monday.

This latest post was seen as a response to venture capitalist Jason Calacanis’s “dead cat bounce” argument. MicroStrategy had just ended a 10-week pause as of August 31, purchasing 4,603 BTC for $370 million at an average price of about $80,318. As of September 7, the company held 845,050 BTC and approximately $6.5 billion in cash.

However, in the week of September 8, MicroStrategy did not buy BTC. Instead, it repurchased $176 million worth of preferred stock. Sending out another signal like this may indicate that the BTC-buying cadence is set to resume. The final confirmation will come from the SEC filing disclosed on Monday.
