Before you buy any coin… 7 things the chart doesn’t tell you 📊
What if I told you that the coin that looks "cheap" on the chart could be more expensive than you think?
And what if there’s information more important than the price itself that doesn’t show up in the chart?
Price tells you what happened.
But to understand the project, you need to know what’s behind the price.
Before you hit the Buy button, here are 7 things worth a minute of research. 👇
1️⃣ The coin price doesn’t tell you its value
Imagine two coins:
🪙 Coin A
Price: $0.10
Circulating supply: 1 billion
🪙 Coin B
Price: $10
Circulating supply: 1 million
Even though the first one looks much cheaper, the:
A = $100 million Market Cap
B = $10 million Market Cap
So:
❌ Don’t say: "This coin is cheap, so it’s a bargain."
✅ Ask: "What is the project’s market cap?"
And most importantly, also look at FDV to get the bigger picture of the supply.
2️⃣ Pay attention to Token Unlocks 🔓
You might see the chart going up and think everything is going great.
But do you know how many new Tokens will enter the market in the coming months?
Some projects allocate tokens for the team, investors, or the community, and they’re released gradually.
So before buying, look for:
📅 Unlock date
📊 Token amount
👥 Its beneficiaries
📈 Its ratio compared to circulating supply
The new listing doesn’t automatically mean the price will drop, but it’s an important variable you should know.
3️⃣ Who owns most of the tokens? 🐳
The chart can’t easily tell you about ownership distribution.
But token distribution can be extremely important for understanding risks.
Ask:
Is the supply distributed among a large number of participants?
Or is a large portion of it concentrated in a small number of wallets or entities?
The better you understand the distribution, the clearer picture you’ll have of the market structure.
4️⃣ Liquidity… the thing you remember when you want to sell 💧
Everyone is talking about:
"How much did the coin rise?"
But the question worth paying attention to is:
"Can I enter and exit easily?"
There may be trading volume, but the liquidity depth near the current price could be limited.
And here, relatively large orders can affect the price.
So don’t look at the price only.
Also look at Liquidity + Order Book + Volume when this data is available.
5️⃣ High Volume… but why? 📈
Rising trading volume may mean increased interest.
But that doesn’t automatically mean the project got stronger.
Try to find out:
Is there news?
Is a new product launched?
Has network usage increased?
Has there been a listing?
Or is the move only driven by speculation?
Volume tells you that activity increased, but it doesn’t tell you everything on its own because of the increase in volume.
6️⃣ What happens away from the chart? 🔍
Open the project page, not just the price page.
Look for:
👥 Users
⛓️ Network activity
🛠️ Development
📱 Apps
💰 Revenue if available
🌐 Real usage
Because the project could have an amazing chart…
But the most important question is:
Is there something real being built and used?
7️⃣ Don’t buy the "story" alone 🎭
Every so often, a new Narrative shows up:
🤖 AI
🏦 RWA
🎮 Gaming
🌐 DePIN
⚡ Layer 2
The idea could be excellent.
But don’t confuse:
Good idea
and
A successful project already.
Ask:
Is there a product?
Are there users?
Is there real usage?
And is there measurable growth?
The story grabs attention…
But the data is what’s worth studying.
⚡ A 60-second test before buying any Token
Before you hit Buy, try to answer these seven questions:
1. What is the Market Cap?
2. What is the FDV?
3. Is there a nearby Token Unlock?
4. How are the tokens distributed?
5. Is the liquidity enough?
6. Why did Volume rise?
7. Is there real usage for the project?
If you can’t answer some of these questions…
You may need to research more before making your decision.
🧠 Summary
The biggest mistake a trader can make is to make the price = the project.
But price is only part of the story.
There are:
Tokenomics + Liquidity + Unlocks + Distribution + Usage + Valuation
All of these are things you might not see just by looking at the candles.
So the next time you see a coin pumping hard, don’t just ask:
🚀 "Where could the price go?"
First, try asking:
🔎 "What don’t I see on the chart?"
Because the best research process sometimes starts… when you close the chart.
