If a $XMR coin processes the same number of transactions that Bitcoin processes daily, then the blockchain will grow by approximately 1.7 gigabytes per day—about 600 gigabytes per year from growth alone—and could reach a terabyte in a short time. Is it still possible to run a Monero node on a home computer after 5 or 10 years? I think the answer is no, and if Monero surpasses Bitcoin in the number of transactions, then this figure would be far higher.
