Latest launch: SpaceX successfully launched 27 Starlink satellites on Sept. 19 aboard Falcon 9 from Vandenberg. The booster landed on the drone ship after about 8½ minutes, marking its 17th flight.
Starlink momentum: The Sept. 19 mission was SpaceX's 81st Starlink launch of 2026, with the constellation now above 11,100 active spacecraft according to satellite tracker Jonathan McDowell.
Starship Flight 14: SpaceX is preparing for Starship's first planned orbital test, including deployment of next-generation Starlink V3 satellites. The previously announced Sept. 22 target has since been postponed, with SpaceX reportedly targeting Sept. 28, pending regulatory approval.
Why Flight 14 matters: The mission is intended to test orbital flight, stage operations and re-entry while beginning deployment of the higher-capacity V3 Starlink satellites.
Main focus now: Starship Flight 14 and whether SpaceX can transition Starship from suborbital testing toward repeatable orbital operations.
