Spot Trading for Beginners
When you start learning about Crypto Trading, Spot Trading is one of the trading styles you should understand first.
So what is Spot Trading? How does it work? As a beginner, what should you know?
💡 What is Spot Trading?
In simple terms, Spot Trading is buying a Crypto asset at the current market price and holding it as your own asset, or selling the asset you already hold.
For example, if you buy $BTC for $60,000 and later sell when it reaches $65,000, you can make a profit from the price difference.
On the other hand, you should also be aware that if the BTC price goes down, you could incur a loss.
🛒 How to do Spot Trading?
In Spot Trading, basically two types of orders—Buy and Sell—are mainly used.
Buy order: Choose the Crypto you want to buy and purchase it at a specified price.
Sell order: Selling the Crypto you own at a specified price.
Before placing a trade, it’s important to think ahead about how much you’ll buy, at what price you’ll buy, and under what conditions you’ll sell.
🌱 Why is Spot easier for beginners to understand?
Because you don’t need to consider leverage and liquidation at the same time like in Futures, it’s simpler to start learning the basics of trading.
But being simple doesn’t mean there’s no risk. Crypto prices can rise and fall quickly, so you always need to factor in your own risk.
🧠 Things you should know before doing Spot Trading
As a beginner, first of all
- Study the asset you plan to trade.
- Set the amount you can afford to lose.
- Understand the fees.
- Don’t buy in a rush just because of FOMO.
- Learn risk management before focusing on making a profit.
Trading isn’t just about buying and waiting for the price to rise. You also need to understand why you’re buying, how much risk you can take, and when you’ll exit.
Having a clear understanding of the basics of Spot Trading can be a good starting point for learning other Trading concepts.
