ME News update, September 20 (UTC+8). During Polymarket’s rapid business expansion on its U.S. platform, it mishandled a debit card fraud issue involving stolen cards. This past February, the company responsible for processing its debit card transactions discovered that a large number of fraudsters had bound the stolen debit cards to targeted accounts, attempting to place bets and withdraw funds to accounts they controlled. The amount involved was at least $10 million. At its peak, more than 80% of deposits were determined to be fraud—far above the industry’s standard of about 1%. (Source: ME)
