Grayscale ZEC Fund Split Into Three Parts
Grayscale announced that its spot Zcash ETF (ticker ZCSH) will undergo a forward split at a ratio of 1-to-3. The record date will be September 28 after the close, and trading will commence on September 30 at the post-split prices. After being listed at the end of August, the fund’s assets under management rose quickly. According to some figures, net assets have already reached roughly US$900 million to US$910 million—still not far from the US$1 billion round-number threshold.
The split does not change the total amount of $ZEC held by the fund; it only subdivides each unit of equity, making it easier for retail investors to buy at a lower per-share price. During the week, inflows into Zcash-related ETFs remained among the top performers in the crypto product space, while the coin price continued to fluctuate above around US$1,500. Open interest is still high, with leverage and spot subscriptions lining up on the same track.
The split itself is neither a bullish nor bearish catalyst—it simply lowers the barrier to “buy one share.” With AUM nearing US$1 billion, it suggests the pipeline can already accommodate real capital; after the threshold is lowered, what matters is whether subscriptions will expand accordingly, not the sentiment on the day of the split announcement. The round-number level and leverage remain—when a pullback happens, this layer of positioning will move first.
