Section on the Move: On Thursday, the SEC held an all-day trading forum in Washington, D.C., to discuss extending U.S. stock trading to nearly 24 hours, aligning it with the crypto market. Chair Atkins said, “We’re obviously entering a new day and a new night”—major news shouldn’t be confined to trading hours. On the same day, he also pushed a tokenized securities “innovation exemption” (a five-year term). He believes that putting things on-chain can enable real-time inventory management, reduce failed deliveries, and even undermine malicious short sellers. Commissioner Peirce put it more bluntly: “The crypto market, of course, doesn’t sleep.” He also warned of the real costs—wider bid-ask spreads, higher volatility, and social-media rumors causing after-hours selloffs. Atkins said several preparatory steps are already underway or completed—not just meeting for the sake of meeting. After legislation got stuck, regulators are moving ahead first with pushing “on-chain” and “not closing the doors.” #加密监管 #US stocks
