JPMorgan: Can Bitcoin get stronger support than gold?
According to JPMorgan, Bitcoin could benefit if hedging activity and the Shorts associated with ETF funds decline.
Gold ETF funds have regained almost all outflows in 2026, while Bitcoin ETF funds have only regained about half.
As for IBIT, it is BlackRock’s spot Bitcoin ETF, and the Short ratio on it has reached near its highest levels of the year, while it remained below its historical average on the GLD gold fund.
Simply put:
If investors start reducing hedges and bearish bets on Bitcoin, selling pressure may ease and demand flows for BTC may improve.
This does not necessarily mean Bitcoin will outperform gold; it suggests that a decline in hedging could be an additional support factor for Bitcoin.
For discussion only, not a recommendation.
