🚨 In the U.S. war against Iran, the bill has already reached $45.1 billion as of September 3

This fight has lasted seven months. This week, the Pentagon laid the latest ledger on Capitol Hill—$45.1 billion. The crypto market has never been watching the battlefield; it’s been watching what this bill will eventually turn into. 💰

First, let’s talk about where the money went. Of the $45.1B, $28.1B is ammunition replenishment, $11.2B is for routine operations, $4.3B is for “lost” weapons and equipment, and $1.5B is for fuel—everything tallied through September 3. 🧾

Break these numbers down and the most interesting part isn’t the total—it’s the structure. The real money burner is re-buying the expended ammunition. The $28.1B figure makes up the lion’s share, while routine operations are just a small slice. On one hand, ammunition is getting used up and shrinking; on the other, orders are getting placed and swelling. The more rounds you fight, the thicker the next bill becomes.

Now look at how fast this ledger is changing. In July, the number the defense minister gave publicly was still $37.5B. In less than two months, it jumped to $45.1B. The increase is real consumption—not a paper estimate. And the Pentagon also said that if you only count replenishing ammunition to its original state, you’d still need another $28B. The portion of losses from damaged Middle East bases isn’t even included in this accounting.

Of course, there are also people saying the costs of war have nothing to do with the coin price. That’s half true in the short term: the battlefield is far from market prices, and the market won’t shift direction just because of a single defense-funding headline. But my own take is that war financing ultimately always goes through bond issuance. The more debt is issued, the more money has to be printed. For those assets that don’t have anyone backing them with guarantees, the narrative will be dragged back out and told again.

⏳ What’s really worth watching isn’t how many zeros this war cost, or the size of the ammunition orders—it’s how this money gets printed and who ends up paying the bill in the end. One camp says fighting wars only suppresses risk assets; another says it actually feeds hard assets. Which side are you on?
