Vietnam plans to issue its first batch of crypto licenses in 2026!

Vietnam’s crypto market has welcomed another major regulatory development.

Recently, the Deputy Minister of Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance said that Vietnam has already established a legal framework for crypto-asset pilots, and it expects the first batch of crypto-asset service providers to obtain licenses in 2026 and begin operations.

And this isn’t just about simply “opening up the market”—it sets extremely high entry requirements👇
Minimum paid-in registered capital of 10 trillion VND
At least 65% of registered capital must be provided by institutional investors
The shareholder structure requires at least two entities from banks, securities firms, funds, insurance companies, or technology enterprises
It also sets clear requirements for technology, security, compliance, and professional personnel.

So what does this mean?
Vietnam is moving from the past **“rapid growth of the crypto market”** toward the stage of:
Licensing → Compliance → Local trading platforms → Institutional capital participation

What’s even more worth paying attention to is that Vietnam is itself one of the more active markets globally for crypto assets. Reuters previously reported that, in the year ending June 2025, crypto transaction volumes involving Vietnam traders exceeded $200 billion.

When such a large crypto market begins building locally compliant trading infrastructure, competition in Southeast Asia’s digital-asset market may enter a new phase.

In 2026, whether Vietnam can truly roll out the first batch of licenses is definitely worth watching closely.
