It’s already past mid-September. The 18th saw a relatively large drawdown, and there are two reasons. 1) Before the 17th, the strategy built up a large number of long positions around 2460. Some of those positions weren’t taken profit at 2600; the take-profit logic had some issues. After that, it kept adding along the way, and the short positions were gradually taking profit. This led to an overly imbalanced position size, which created some pressure.
2) Originally, if I held the long positions without caring, as the strategy runs, I wouldn’t have incurred losses. But that phase is already over. I still couldn’t get past the mental hurdle. There was also a chance to unwind the positions when the rate hike happened, but I missed that too. In the end, I was afraid the market would drop and I’d have too many long positions, so I opened a short manually at the 2470 level. I ended up doing a complete mess.
After that, my mindset went bad, and I liquidated the entire position.
Sigh…I’m just a useless mindset. Why didn’t I have patience? Why didn’t I believe myself and give it more time?
