To be honest, tonight #BTC probably exceeded a lot of people’s expectations. Yesterday, US stocks rebounded, and $BTC was weak; today, US stocks are weak, yet BTC surged with unexpected strength!

A short-term accelerated rebound isn’t scary. What’s scary is if the rebound stalls here. If it doesn’t break the previous high of 82,300, then the bulls’ hearts will likely be chilled!

On May 6, the previous high was 82,700. After that, it started to pull back without breaking through, leaving the previous high at 82,300. If this rebound still can’t break the previous high—after experiencing two failed breakouts, plus the 《Clear Act》 facing short-term resistance—market confidence may genuinely take a hit. Thursday’s #Bitcoin ETF data showed a clear turnaround, which may be a belated “after-the-fact” take!

I was being lazy and updated the data late. On Thursday, #BTC ETF data showed a clear net inflow: net inflow for the day was 159.5 million. IBIT remained the main channel for net inflows, with a daily net inflow of 183.7 million, accounting for 115.2% of total inflows.

Meanwhile, FBTC had a net outflow of 16 million, HODL had a net outflow of 7.6 million, and the other three firms were at 0.

Although Thursday’s ETFs saw a turnaround, the overall situation is still overly dependent on a single channel. Clearly, this turnaround is not a widespread phenomenon. Several institutions still showed zero capital movement, and two institutions continued to have net outflows.

That said, for now the short-term BTC price is accelerating its rebound. Compared with Friday’s ETF data, things should look better. If next week’s capital continues to maintain the turnaround, then the net outflow phase can be considered over.

Looking at crypto market data, currently the market cap increase is concentrated in BTC and ETFs. At this stage, it can’t yet be called a phase of optimistic spread across the market.

Trading volume is slightly higher than yesterday. The increase is mainly in BTC, followed by ETH. Total capital added 200 million, including a net inflow of 57 million in USDT and a net inflow of 234 million in USDC—fund flows look good.

Phase summary:

Current data supports a temporary optimism. ETF and crypto-market capital are both flowing back. That means Friday’s data will be even more important. We need to see whether the accelerating rise in prices in the short term can be validated by the market data—that’s the key focus for tomorrow’s numbers.

Next week’s data on fund flows, especially ETF data, will be even more important. Can it break the streak of consecutive net outflows and return to net inflows?
