In this round, the short positions in HYPE were truly buried.
Over the past 24 hours, HYPE is up 13.6% (Binance 13.61%/OKX 13.51%, with both agreeing near the price of $91.1). In the same period, of the $8.26 million total liquidations across the whole network, 95% came from shorts—longs only liquidated $439,000, nearly 19 times less.
This is not a normal upward move—it’s a squeeze-style surge: the higher it rises, the harder it explodes. Shorts are forced out through forced liquidations while they’re still trying to absorb the drop; the cascading liquidations then bounce back to push prices up further.
BTC is up 1.6% in the same period, and ETH is up 1.56%. The overall market tone is bullish, but HYPE’s kind of single-coin, extremely aggressive rally paired with one-direction liquidations of shorts usually indicates that leverage has already been stacked very high. Once a pullback happens, the damage can rebound quickly.
How long do you think this rally can keep going?
