Yesterday, the SEC approved a temporary exemption to allow on-chain trading of certain U.S. shares.
But watch out for this:
NO, it doesn’t mean that now any share can be traded freely on any blockchain.
The exemption has conditions, limits, and lasts 5 years.
So my question is:
Are we simply seeing a test…
or the beginning of a change in how shares are traded?
Because if this works, the issue wouldn’t be whether shares can go on-chain anymore.
It would be to ask ourselves:
what would we need some of the intermediaries we use today for?
