Imagine this: you send USDT to your friend to chip in for pizza, or you transfer ETH to an exchange so you can buy a fresh memecoin in time. You hit “Send,” close the app… and nothing happens. An hour, two, five. The pizza gets cold, the memecoin has already gone to Mars and then fallen back, and your transaction is still hanging with the status “Pending,” like it’s a paycheck from some budget organization.

Welcome to the club! Let’s figure out why the blockchain sometimes turns into a pigeon loft during a thunderstorm—and how not to sit there every time a transfer gets delayed.

🎭 A simple scheme: What is this hell like?

To understand where your coins are stuck, imagine the blockchain as a minibus with a paid entrance:

You get in the queue: When you send a transfer, it goes into the “waiting room” (in crypto this is called the Mempool or mempool).

The minibus (Blockchain): Miners or validators are the minibus drivers. There’s limited seating!

Fare (Gas / Fee): The driver is a mercenary type. He doesn’t pick up passengers one by one. He goes up to the crowd and yells: “Whoever pays more for a ticket goes first!”

If you regretted a couple of cents and set the fee below the market rate, your transaction will stay waiting at the stop. And wealthy traders will fly by, slipping the driver crisp bills (high gas).

🚨 The 3 main reasons why everything got stuck:

1. A traffic jam on the road (Network is overloaded): A new NFT project launches, Elon Musk tweets something again, or the market suddenly starts falling/rising sharply. Everyone runs to transfer crypto at the same time—gas fees skyrocket, and your transfer with the “old” low commission ends up all the way at the back of the queue.

2. You got greedy with the “gas”: Manual commission settings in your wallet are a dangerous toy. You set $0.10 instead of $1.50? Congratulations, you just reserved a seat on the slowest train in history.

3. The “Stuck Check” syndrome (Nonce Conflict): On the blockchain, transactions from the same wallet go strictly in order: #1, #2, #3... If transaction #1 gets stuck due to low gas, then transactions #2 and #3 won’t even start processing. They’ll all pile up in a dead traffic jam!

🛠 What to do if the transfer is ALREADY stuck?

No panic! Crypto hasn’t disappeared—it’s just waiting at the stop. Here’s what you should do:

Just wait: In 90% of cases, the network will either clear up and finish processing the transaction, or drop it (Transaction Cancelled/Dropped) and the money will return to your balance. Usually it takes anywhere from a couple of hours to 24 hours.

“Speed Up” function (Speed Up): In most wallets (e.g., MetaMask or Trust Wallet) there’s a “Speed Up” button. It sends the same transaction, but gives the driver of the minibus a bit more “gas” on top.

Transaction cancellation (Cancel): The wallet will send a dummy transaction with a higher fee and the same sequential number (nonce), overriding the stuck transfer.

🛡 How to avoid this in the future?

Watch the gas indicator: Before sending large amounts on the Ethereum or Bitcoin network, check gas trackers (Etherscan Gas Tracker). If the network is glowing red, it’s better to wait 15 minutes.

Use fast networks: Why pay $10 for Ethereum and wait half an hour if you can send USDT via TRON (TRC-20), BNB Chain (BEP-20), Solana, or Arbitrum in seconds for a couple of cents?

Don’t skimp on fees during peak moments: If the market is going to hell and you NEED to transfer funds urgently, set the fee to “Fast” or “High”.

Result: A stuck transaction isn’t the end of the world—it’s just the price of a lesson on how the blockchain works. The main thing is not to send 10 identical transfers over and over in panic, or they’ll all go through later!
