The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) is preparing to launch a wholesale central bank digital currency (CBDC) by the end of 2026 as part of the EnsembleTX project!
This upgrade will enable round-the-clock interbank settlement for tokenized deposits and real-world assets, going beyond the business hours of the traditional RTGS system. It will also allow for seamless liquidity management 24/7, as well as derivatives trading operations after hours on the HKEX exchange.
