The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) is preparing to launch a wholesale central bank digital currency (CBDC) by the end of 2026 as part of the EnsembleTX project!
This upgrade aims to enable 24/7 interbank settlement for tokenized deposits and real-world assets, beyond the operating hours of the traditional RTGS system. It will also facilitate seamless around-the-clock liquidity management and derivatives trading operations after HKEX exchange hours.
