This is absolutely a major positive for meme coins.
The total market cap of meme coins on the weekly chart has finally broken out of the nearly two-year downtrend.
This week’s gain is already +10%. That’s insane, because historically, the four-year cycle sees 2026 as a bear-market year, yet the market is pushing higher.
We’re still nowhere near the previous high of $451 billion, so I won’t declare a meme-coin season yet. But this is the first real breakout attempt we’ve seen in years.
We need the weekly close to hold above this trendline to maintain the bullish momentum. If it fails, the $160B–$190B range could be tested again.
What makes this so crazy? Despite the failure of the Clarity Act, with the Fed continuing to raise rates, Bitcoin has already returned above $77k. Meme coins are, regardless, forging the first truly meaningful weekly breakout of 2026.
