I found that the way things work in the crypto market now is really different from before.

In the past, when I saw the Federal Reserve raise rates, my first reaction was “bearish,” and I’d rush to get out. But this time, after the 25-basis-point hike was actually carried out, the crypto market didn’t collapse—if anything, it surged even harder. UNI alone gained 30%+ in a day, and SOL, BNB, BTC, and ETH were all rising too.

It actually makes sense when you think about it. What really kills the market has never been the “bad news” that everyone knows. It’s the bad news that people didn’t expect.

This time, the signals for the rate hike were given well in advance. By the time even ordinary people knew that “a rate hike is very likely tonight,” the truly smart money might have already moved out early and repositioned.

When the “shoe drops” for real, people selling the “sell the news” trade are already selling about as much as they can.
