U.S. stock sector rotation over the past 30 trading days: energy leads, with differentiation emerging within technology
Based on TradingView sector performance, over the past 30 trading days energy ETFs surged to lead the major sectors; specifically, ETF $XLE gained 12.51%. Healthcare ETFs rose 2.83% (ETF $XLV.ETF ), while the technology ETF (ETF $XLK.ETF ) increased 1.16%.
Within sub-sectors, the oil & gas exploration ETF (XOP) rose 16.59%, and the gold mining ETF (GDX) gained 14.63%. The cybersecurity ETF (HACK) and the software ETF (IGV) rose 5.09% and 4.41%, respectively.
On the other hand, the semiconductor ETF (SMH) fell 1.60%, the regional bank ETF (KRE) dropped 5.95%, the retail ETF (XRT) fell 9.41%, and the airline ETF (JETS) declined 15.99%.
The index did not show clear weakness, but in the short term, capital appears to be more tilted toward energy, gold, and certain defensive areas. The technology sector has not been rising in sync: software and cybersecurity have been relatively stronger, and semiconductors still need to be watched to see whether they can catch up again.
Note: The above reflects the performance shown in charts over the past 30 trading days and does not indicate future trends.
