SEC Chair Atkins has finally made a move. On September 17, the SEC issued an “innovation exemption” order granting a newly approved category of tokenized securities platforms a five-year transition period. This allows them to trade tokenized U.S. stocks on public blockchains without going through the registration process required by national exchanges. The conditions are tightly set: the tokens must carry the same rights, dividends, and voting as the underlying shares, and issuers can also oppose listings. This step comes after the CLARITY Act stalled in the Senate, and many view it as a Plan B to get around the legislative deadlock. In the markets, BTC is now at 781,000, up about 1.8%, while ETH is at 2,504, up about 2.4%.
