Today before the U.S. stock market open, all three major index futures rose: S&P 500 E-MINI futures were up 0.35%, Nasdaq 100 futures up 0.63%, and Dow futures up 0.25%. Nasdaq futures led the gain, indicating a modest recovery in risk appetite ahead of the session. In terms of sectors, optical communications extended yesterday’s rally. Corning and Coherent rose more than 2%, while Mavenir Technologies and Ciena were up nearly 2%. Memory chips edged higher: SK hynix and SanDisk were up 2%, and Micron Technology and Western Digital rose 1.5%. Storage and optical communications are both direct beneficiary segments of the expansion of AI computing power—one supports storage demand proportional to compute, and the other supports data-center data transmission. With both themes strengthening in tandem, it often reads as the market’s vote on AI infrastructure momentum. However, the overall pre-market gains were relatively mild; the money seems to be more like continuation rather than acceleration. For the crypto sector, which is also driven by the AI narrative, keep an eye on whether sentiment overflow is sufficient.
