#chainlinkpowersbottomlinepaymentplatform Chainlink brings Bottomline’s new payment platform to the blockchains
On September 17, Bottomline launched Global Pay Connect, a cloud-based payment messaging platform for financial institutions. Thanks to its partnership with Chainlink, banks can access multiple blockchain networks using their existing Bottomline connections.
The platform also supports traditional networks, including Swift and SEPA, as well as tools for enriching payment data, preventing fraud, and managing ISO 20022 messages.
The practical opportunity is simpler integration. A bank exploring blockchain payments always has to work with its existing systems, approval processes, and reporting requirements. Making access available through an established provider could reduce the engineering effort needed to introduce new services.
It could also make it easier to extend smaller deployments if customers find them useful. I would track which payment routes become active, whether institutions use them repeatedly, and whether settlement costs or timelines improve in concrete terms.
The launch announcement does not quantify how many banks already use these blockchain connections. For LINK, disclosed usage of the service and fee generation would offer stronger proof of economic impact than the platform’s potential reach alone.
This gives Chainlink another entry point into institutional payment workflows. Its reach will become clearer as clients put the connectivity to good use.
