The market is still grinding, but the DeFi sector lit itself first.

$AAVE is up nearly 10% today, straight to a new high. I dug into the news flow—this move isn’t just emotion; the logic is pretty solid:

① Institutional money can finally enter DeFi. Aave has partnered with Anchorage. Institutional BTC doesn’t need to be moved on-chain; it can stay in custody. Chainlink’s CustodySync maps custody balances into CoCT. Institutions then use CoCT as collateral, borrow stablecoins via Aave V4, and liquidations are handled off-chain. In effect, institutional funds are “delivered” into the lending pool across the air—this is new inflow, not a zero-sum battle for existing liquidity.

② Protocol revenue is trending upward. Both TVL and revenue—two core fundamentals—have been improving lately. On the revenue side, it’s the most important valuation anchor for DeFi protocols.

③ A counterattack under competitive pressure. Over the past two years, MORPHO has taken a sizable chunk of Aave’s share. This collaboration is clearly Aave’s direct response on the institutional lending front.

My plan: track with a light position. Add in batches on pullbacks to key support levels. Chasing that big green candle isn’t necessary. The initial target is above the new high. If sentiment fades and breaks support, I’ll exit—I won’t bet on a second round of news. The institutional narrative needs time to play out, so position sizing is key.
