South Korean President Lee Jae-myung said negotiations with the United States over projects tied to Seoul's $350 billion investment pledge have kept him awake at night. According to Sina Finance, he said talks resumed after he found some terms of a nearly finalized agreement unacceptable.

Lee said on Friday at a news conference that South Korea would only pursue commercially viable projects. According to Sina Finance, he said Seoul insisted on including that condition in its agreement with Washington after "extraordinarily difficult" negotiations.

Lee said the talks have restarted with the goal of designing projects that would not harm South Korea's national interests and would benefit both countries. According to Sina Finance, he also said South Korea would not send troops or military equipment into combat and that its non-intervention principle remains unchanged.
