The world already has more than 135,000 millionaires, and 70% of them have bitcoin

Large digital fortunes are growing and opening up a new discussion about wealth, taxes, and jurisdictions.

Bitcoin accounts for 92,272 fortunes of at least USD 1 million worldwide.

The index compares 36 jurisdictions and more than 900 data points about the digital ecosystem.

The market downturn did not slow the accumulation of large fortunes in digital assets. While bitcoin went through one of its strongest corrections of the year, the number of people with million-dollar fortunes tied to cryptocurrencies continued to grow.

Henley & Partners’ Crypto Wealth Report 2026, international specialists in residence and citizenship advisory services, estimates that 135,694 people hold digital assets valued at at least USD 1 million. Of these, 92,272 have their fortune in bitcoin.

The figure contrasts with the recent evolution of the market. As of August 31, 2026, the total value of cryptocurrencies was around USD 2.6 trillion, while bitcoin represented USD 1.6 trillion, as explained by CriptoNoticias. Bitcoin lost more than 50% during mid-year’s correction and, after recovering, was still trading at approximately 38% below its October 2025 peak.

The firm notes that this pullback was less severe than those recorded after the highs of 2011, 2013, 2017, and 2021, when bitcoin fell by more than 75% in each cycle
