Anthropic has released new measurements revealing the scale of AI research being conducted by AI itself, providing up-to-date data on a central question in the ongoing debate about AI risks: Can increasingly advanced AI eventually accelerate the development of even more capable systems?
The company said Claude now leads 26% of Anthropic’s AI research and development work, compared to less than 1% in February. Anthropic defines “leading” as completing most of the task end-to-end based on general instructions, with human oversight. The AI also carries out more than 90% of the research and development at the level of “collaboration” with humans or higher.
