Nvidia has committed $2 billion to Brookfield Asset Management's global artificial intelligence infrastructure fund, according to Bloomberg, citing investor documents that revealed the size of a previously disclosed investment. The chipmaker is an anchor investor in the Brookfield Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure Fund alongside the Kuwait Investment Authority, Brookfield said last year. The fund focuses on the AI buildout, backing factories, dedicated behind-the-meter power solutions and compute infrastructure.
Brookfield has become a key provider of private capital for the AI buildout. It is raising $10 billion for the AI infrastructure fund as part of a broader plan to raise around $50 billion for its infrastructure group over the next two years, with AI featuring in every strategy, Bloomberg has reported. Brookfield is also part of an Nvidia consortium committing to finance AI computing deals totaling more than $500 billion.
The firm plans to double its fee-bearing capital to $1.3 trillion by 2031, with infrastructure accounting for about 16% of the total, according to a presentation at its annual investor day on Thursday. Chief Executive Officer Connor Teskey said that while the bar for new acquisitions is "extremely high," Brookfield will explore areas that enhance its current strategies, such as credit — particularly asset-backed finance — as well as certain components of private equity and fund distribution.
