According to CNBC, Pennsylvania’s health department is requesting emergency support from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as it deals with one of the country’s largest and deadliest measles outbreaks, but only if the agency recognizes four measles-associated deaths reported by the state. The request comes amid a dispute with Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Governor Josh Shapiro, after Kennedy instructed the CDC not to include the Pennsylvania fatalities in a national tally. Pennsylvania said its outbreak has grown to more than 700 confirmed cases across 37 counties and four measles-associated deaths.
