The crypto market is reacting to a major macro event as the Federal Reserve raises interest rates by 25 basis points, bringing the target range to 3.75%–4.00%.
This is the Fed’s first rate hike since July 2023. What makes this move interesting for crypto is that the market was already watching interest rates, Treasury yields and liquidity very closely.
Bitcoin ($BTC) moved back above the $76,000 area after the decision, while Ethereum ($ETH) also gained in early trading. According to recent market data, BTC and ETH are still showing strong monthly gains despite the short-term volatility.
The bigger question now is what comes next.
The Fed’s projections suggest there could be only one additional rate increase during 2026. That is a more moderate path than some market participants had expected.
For crypto traders, the next few sessions could therefore be important. Market attention will likely remain focused on liquidity, the U.S. dollar, Treasury yields and whether buyers continue supporting BTC and ETH.
Personally, I think the interesting part is not just the 25 BPS hike itself, but how the crypto market reacts after the initial volatility settles.
