For the first time in three years, the institutions move quickly to interpret the Fed rate hike. In the early hours of September 17 Beijing time, the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) decided, unanimously, to raise the federal benchmark interest rate target range by 25 basis points to 3.75%-4%.
The “dot plot” of expectations for the future interest-rate path shows that there will be one more rate hike this year, with the final midpoint rate reaching 4.1%. The 12 officials hinted at one additional hike, while four officials expected two more hikes this year. As in the forecasts released in June, Waller did not disclose his personal interest-rate projections.
