EARUSDT: Can you still chase a long now?
The current price is around 2.79. The short-term trend is still bullish, but this level is already close to the previous high area, so the risk-to-reward of directly chasing longs has started to decline.
From the 1H structure, NEAR has recently shown a fairly clear uptrend:
2.43 → 2.55 → 2.62 → 2.70 → 2.75 → 2.85
Both the highs and lows continue to rise, and the trend has not broken down for now.
However, there are a few key levels to watch:
Resistance level: 2.85–2.86
This is the most recent short-term swing high. If 1H can build volume and hold above 2.86, then you can continue to look for 2.95–3.00.
First support: 2.72–2.76
If there is a pullback, this is the short-term area I pay more attention to for buying longs. Compared with chasing directly around 2.79, the risk-to-reward after a pullback is more reasonable.
Strong support: 2.64–2.68
If the market goes through a more obvious shakeout, this area is very critical. Once 1H clearly breaks below 2.68 and keeps failing to reclaim it, the short-term long structure would need to be re-evaluated.
Another data point worth noting is open interest.
Over the past ~24 hours, the NEARUSDT futures open interest value increased from about $96.3 million to $132 million, a rise of nearly 37%.
With price up + OI up significantly, this suggests the rally isn’t just short covering—there is a lot of new capital entering.
But this also means leveraged positions are starting to build up. If price breaks below key support, high-level long positions may see clustered stop-losses.
The funding rate is not showing obvious overheating at the moment, and there isn’t yet extreme crowded long sentiment.
Large players’ positions are still clearly net long; the long/short positioning ratio is about 2.62, but compared with the previous 3.0+, it has already declined somewhat, and some disagreement is starting to appear near the highs.
My take:
Trend: bullish
Location: relatively high
Not suitable for chasing longs with heavy size
Focus instead on the pullback opportunity at 2.72–2.76
Or wait for a valid 1H breakout above 2.86, then look for a pullback confirmation
I haven’t seen a particularly clear short setup yet, but after a continuous up move, a quick 5%–8% retracement is also completely normal.
For futures trading, the most important thing isn’t guessing the absolute top, but controlling your entry level and stop-loss.
