The order book is the X-ray of P2P trading. It doesn’t show “the day’s rate”: it shows the orders published at that moment, with their price, volume, and the banks that accept them. Learning to read it takes minutes and changes the way USDT/VES is traded.

Everything that follows comes from the capture from September 17, 2026 at 08:00 UTC: best ask Bs. 958.00, best bid Bs. 953.00, spread of Bs. 5.00 (0.52%), 139 visible ads, and an imbalance of 11.3%. These are measured facts, not opinions.

📊 What a P2P order book is and what it isn’t

The order book is the ordered list of offers. On the ask side are those selling USDT: that’s the price you pay when you buy. On the bid side are those buying USDT: that’s the price you receive when you sell. Each row includes price, available amount, number of ads, and accepted banks.

What the book isn’t: it isn’t an average, it isn’t an official rate, and it isn’t a projection. In the screenshot, the order book brings together 139 ads, while the market semaphore counts 154 active offers. Those are universes measured with different criteria. When two sources don’t match, trust the book—because that’s where execution actually happens.

Key point: Venezuela is today one of the markets with the highest adoption of USDT worldwide, according to the TRM Labs report on the first quarter of 2026. That translates into deep books, but also into prices that are very spread out between one merchant and another.

📈 The four base figures: ask, bid, spread, and mid price

Concept Value for the day What it means

Best ask Bs. 958.00 The lowest price at which you can buy USDT. Volume: 47,238.54 USDT in a single ad (Banco de Venezuela and BANK).

Best bid Bs. 953.00 The highest price at which you can sell USDT. Volume: 2,542.30 USDT, Banesco ad.

Spread Bs. 5.00 (0.52%) Distance between the first level on each side.

Mid price Bs. 955.50 Reference point for comparison, not an executable price.

The percentage spread calculation is simple: (best ask − best bid) ÷ mid price × 100. That is, (958.00 − 953.00) ÷ 955.50 × 100 = 0.52%. That’s the implicit cost of entering and exiting at the first level.

Now the contrast that confuses almost all new users. The Radar P2P comparator reports an aggregated spread of 6.12% (buy Bs. 981.4555 and sell Bs. 924.8667). It’s not contradictory: that number compares the average of a bunch of buy offers against the average of a bunch of sell offers, including the extremes. The real first-level spread is almost twelve times smaller. Lesson: you never trade against an average—you trade against a specific level in the book.

Another useful figure is the premium versus the BCV. With the BCV at Bs. 847.4442 and the P2P reference at Bs. 981.4555, the premium comes to about 15.81%. If you calculate only using the book’s best ask (Bs. 958.00), it drops to about 13.05%. Same market, two different answers depending on which price you use.

🔎 Depth: how far the price can hold

Depth is how much volume there is at each level. The first level is usually the most attractive—and also the most fragile: if your order is big, it consumes that level and continues with the next one, which is either more expensive or cheaper. That’s called slippage.

Level (ask) USDT Volume Cumulative USDT

958.00 47,238.54 47,238.54

958.69 16,943.67 64,182.21

958.70 9,903.89 74,086.10

Calculated example using the day's data: buying 50,000 USDT forces you to take 47,238.54 Bs. 958.00 and 2,761.46 Bs. 958.69. The resulting weighted average price is approximately Bs. 958.04, just 0.004% above the best ask. There is plenty of depth at that level.

On the sell side, the picture is a bit thinner. Selling 50,000 USDT sweeps through levels from Bs. 953.00 down to Bs. 951.00, with a weighted average close to Bs. 951.84: about Bs. 1.16 below the best bid (0.12%). Still low, but you can already see it.

The total visible confirms the asymmetry: 253,710.99 USDT in buy orders versus 202,213.60 USDT in sell orders.

💰 11.3% Imbalance: what it says and what it doesn’t

The imbalance is calculated like this: (buyer volume − seller volume) ÷ total volume × 100. With the data: (253,710.99 − 202,213.60) ÷ 455,924.59 × 100 = 11.3%.
