The Federal Open Market Committee approved and issued the following statement by a vote of 12 in favor and 0 against:

To support the Federal Reserve’s dual mandate, the Committee decided to raise the target range for the federal funds rate by 25 basis points to 3.75%–4%. The Committee will continue to maintain a policy of ample reserves in the banking system.

Economic activity is expanding at a solid pace. Although uncertainty remains elevated, in part due to developments related to geopolitical events, domestic spending has shown resilience. Productivity growth is strong, and capital investment remains steady. Employment growth is in step with labor force growth, and the unemployment rate is little changed.

Inflation remains elevated. Today’s policy action will help inflation return to the Committee’s 2% objective more promptly. The Committee will achieve price stability.
