The Senate’s procedural vote failed, and XRP became the worst-performing coin among the mainstream ones 📉

Over the course of a single day, it fell nearly 10%, with the price retreating to around $1.30.

During the day, it slid from about $1.45 all the way down to $1.28—wiping out roughly $40 million in leveraged positions.

This is the steepest one-day drop since 2026 so far.

The reason for the drop isn’t about the coin itself. The bill stalling leads to a pullback in sentiment; XRP’s legal status hasn’t changed.

That day, Ripple’s Chief Legal Officer Stuart Alderoty reiterated that XRP is not a security.

The basis is the federal court ruling from 2023.

That same night, Bitcoin also slipped toward around $76,000, putting pressure on the broader market of major coins.

For crypto, pricing in regulatory expectations is often harsher than the regulatory reality.
