9.17 Thursday, big pancake—good morning everyone!

The early-morning Fed decision has taken effect: a 25-basis-point rate hike. The market doesn’t seem to be moving much, so many people think it’s fine, and even fantasize about a positive outcome.

Listen carefully to what Powell said in the press conference: it was all just playing catch—words were ambiguous, but there is absolutely not a single dovish signal. The essence is hawkish, not giving the market any expectations of easing. Without support from any rate-cut expectations, the bulls can’t really go far.

Why does the price action look like it’s moving only a little? Because the rate hike was already priced in by the market in advance. But don’t be fooled by this sideways consolidation—it isn’t a positive catalyst; it’s just that the bearish pressure hasn’t concentrated and exploded yet.

My approach remains unchanged: I continue to look for downside.
