After an initial effort to advance the CLARITY Act in the U.S. Senate fell short, seven Democratic senators said they are willing to resume bipartisan negotiations aimed at passing the bill.

Eleanor Terrett, host of Crypto in America, reported on September 16 that the group — including Senators Kirsten Gillibrand, Mark Warner, Ruben Gallego and Angela Alsobrooks — said in a joint statement that they are willing to work across party lines to pass the CLARITY Act.

The statement comes amid early signs that Democrats and Republicans are moving to restart negotiations over the bill.

Three people familiar with the matter said efforts are underway to gauge whether both sides are willing to return to the negotiating table. Attempts are also being made to revive bipartisan talks with the goal of passing the bill this year.

The CLARITY Act had earlier been blocked after failing to secure the 60 votes needed in a procedural Senate vote to begin formal debate. The latest statement from Democratic senators is now drawing attention to whether the stalled negotiations will resume.
