📰 XRP rakes in $12.29M in a day, while the DOGE ETF is closing shop: are altcoin ETFs actually any good?

According to a report by Binance Square, on September 9 the XRP ETF saw a single-day inflow of $12.29M, while the three U.S. DOGE funds combined over nearly 10 months only raised a little over $12M. Bitwise plans to shut down its BWOW DOGE ETF, which launched less than a year ago.

💡 My take: It’s a real, tangible positive for XRP📈, and a splash of cold water for the altcoin ETF narrative. XRP is currently at $1.426, up 3.98% over 24h—capital inflows and price are validating each other. The impact on BTC/ETH is relatively neutral: BTC is mostly moving sideways around $77,887.1, and this news won’t change the broader market direction.

One-sentence translation: ETFs are not a magic cure-all. Institutional capital only cares about assets that have a spot-driven narrative and clear regulatory certainty. If you’re just pure meme trying to extend its life with an ETF, the market has already voted with its feet.

The deeper logic is simple: after clearing the same approval hurdle, XRP behind it has real settlement/payment use cases and clear expectations of SEC relationship repair. By contrast, the DOGE ETF is essentially a leveraged meme-sentiment product. A 10-month scale of $12M can’t even cover operating costs. Bitwise shutting it down is a rational risk-off decision, not a sign of the industry pivoting.

Testable inference: If, over the coming week, the XRP ETF keeps seeing daily inflows above $10M, then the $1.426 level is likely just a waystation; if inflows shrink to below $5M, or even flip to outflows, then this 3.98% rally is likely just a one-day phenomenon and the thesis falls apart. On the DOGE side, if the BWOW closure triggers a broader wave of liquidations across other altcoin ETFs, that would indicate the altcoin ETF window is narrower than people imagined.

Say I’m wrong—go easy on me. I’m only following the XRP funding-flow data with a small position and I’m not betting on DOGE.
