A U.S. federal trade agency said on Wednesday that it has opened an investigation into allegations that Samsung Electronics, Apple, and Google infringed patents tied to specific audio technology in electronic devices. According to Sina Finance, the U.S. International Trade Commission posted the investigation on its website after California-based BoomCloud 360 filed a complaint last month.

BoomCloud 360 said certain audio technologies used by the tech giants infringe three patents it claims. The company asked the U.S. International Trade Commission to bar imports of the relevant products and prohibit their sale and distribution in the United States. Samsung, Apple, and Google must respond to the complaint within 20 days of receiving notice of the investigation.
