The U.S. Senate rejected the cryptocurrency bill, the Clarity Act. The main procedural vote on whether to further consider the bill was rejected, with 42–50 votes.
Last year, the bill was called into question and sent back for further revision; there were also disputes and inconsistencies between the banking and cryptocurrency sectors of the economy related to stablecoin rewards.
The final voting result was released, and the price of Bitcoin fell by 1.1%, below the $76K mark.
Ahead of the U.S. Federal Reserve meeting on September 16, 2026, markets had been forecasting a 25-basis-point rate increase with an 88% probability in September 2026. That has already happened. The Federal Reserve’s Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) unanimously approved a decision to raise the benchmark rate by 25 basis points to 3.75%-4.00%. This is the first rate hike by the U.S. central bank since 2023.
