Venezuela plans to send 15,000 tons of aluminum to the US this week

This Friday, Venezuela is expected to ship 15,000 tons of aluminum to the United States (US), under an agreement with Mercuria Energy Group Ltd. and Heeney Capital, seeking to diversify its economy beyond the hydrocarbons sector.
According to Bloomberg Línea, sources close to the matter clarified that this is the first shipment to leave Venezuela for the North American nation and was produced by the Venezuelan company Venalum.
In addition, US authorities could announce the aluminum shipment during the G20 energy summit taking place in Houston, Texas.
The 15,000-ton aluminum shipment would be worth nearly US$50 million at current prices and would be equivalent to several weeks of production.
