#eth callback 2250-2088 going long. The Fed’s median forecast shows another rate hike in 2026 and interest rates unchanged in 2027
September 17 Reuters: On September 17, the Federal Reserve implemented its first rate hike in three years. In its dot-plot median forecast, it indicated that there will be one more rate hike this year, with rates held unchanged in 2027. The new projections show that rates will fall in 2028 and remain between 3.5% and 3.75% in 2029. Previously, in its June projections, the Fed expected one rate hike of 25 basis points this year and one rate cut in 2027. The Fed also raised its long-run outlook for the federal funds rate to 3.2%, from 3.1% in the June forecast. Of the 19 policymakers, 18 submitted rate outlook predictions, strongly suggesting that Fed Chair Waller, as he did in June this year, did not provide specific forecasts. The Fed’s projections also show that policymakers now expect inflation rates this year and over the coming years to be generally higher.
