My favorite line from @justinsuntron ’s article. His wealth came from mathematics, and the Justin Sun Prize is his way of giving back.
There are many talented people, but talent alone isn’t always enough. People also need time, funding, and motivation to keep working on difficult problems. I think Justin sees that.
His article describes two roles for each challenge:
✦ The person who finds a mathematical proof.
✦ The person who turns it into a form a computer can verify.
They can be the same person or different contributors, with humans, AI, or both working together.
The prover gets credit once the mathematical community accepts the proof. The reward waits for computer verification. According to Justin, prize funds are locked onchain for public checking, with payment following verification under the prize rules.
What I also like is his support for theoretical mathematics. An idea with no clear use today could become the foundation of tomorrow’s technology.
It made me think: What do we want to leave behind? How do we want to be remembered?
Maybe giving back means helping people we haven’t met achieve things we can’t yet imagine.
We’ll see what this prize achieves, but using your success to help others reach their potential is something I really admire 🤍
