South Korea sets a three-stage roadmap for the tokenized securities market

The Financial Services Commission (FSC) of South Korea has unveiled a three-stage roadmap to establish a national tokenized securities system under a new law that will enter into force on 4 February 2027. The first phase begins with the legal recognition of these securities, including investment funds, bonds, and unlisted shares, before the plan expands in subsequent stages to include all securities offered to the public and payments made with stablecoins. The Commission works with the Korea Securities Depository to complete the regulatory framework by the end of September.
