Intel and SK hynix discussed yesterday (September 16) a potential deal that would allow SK hynix to rent part of Intel’s chip production campus in Ohio, where construction has been delayed, in order to manufacture memory chips in the United States for the first time. Intel’s shares (INTC) jumped 5% in after-hours trading, while those of SK hynix (SKHY) rose 3%. Intel’s first chip plant in Ohio is now not expected to come into service until 2030 or 2031, several years after the original 2025 target.
