This is the first time in nearly 40 days that a block was mined by an independent miner on the Bitcoin network.
The previous instance dates back to August 2: a Solo CKPool miner mined a block and received 3.1569 BTC.
Why is this worth paying attention to?
Because Bitcoin mining has long entered the “big mining company era.” Regular solo miners face competition from professional mining farms and massive hash power, making the probability of finding a block on their own extremely low.
But Bitcoin’s rules still are:
Smaller hash power ≠ no chance.
