Kraken’s parent company Payward announced plans to launch perpetual contracts for U.S. users based on the Hyperliquid HIP-3 mechanism. This isn’t a routine rollout—it involves integrating the on-chain protocol into a CFTC regulatory framework: Bitnomial will serve as the designated contract market, handling market creation, management, and clearing and settlement; NinjaTrader Clearing will act as a registered futures broker to carry customers’ accounts.

Users must complete account onboarding with NinjaTrader and be simultaneously added to the NinjaTrader and Bitnomial whitelists in order to trade. The related plans still require regulatory approval.

The key point is that Hyperliquid is Payward’s first protocol deployment in the U.S., and the HIP-3 permissioned-market model may also provide a compliance template for bringing on-chain perpetual contracts into the United States. If the model works, more products may follow, leveraging the same open infrastructure.
