XRP drops 10%, BTC only drops 3%—why is it the worst?
We have to start with the XRP vs. SEC lawsuit.
Ripple and the SEC battled for years, and the court only ruled that “selling XRP on exchanges is not illegal,” but it never wrote “XRP is a commodity” into the law. This classification has stayed in limbo, and if the SEC leadership changes again, the ruling could be overturned.
The CLARITY Act was supposed to do exactly that—write this classification into law. In effect, it would give XRP a permanent legal ID card, so no matter who comes into power later, they can’t reverse it.
But in the end, it failed 50–49. The ID card is gone.
So you see, BTC drops because the overall market is falling, and ETH drops for the same reason. XRP drops because what it had been waiting for for five years suddenly didn’t come.
Halfway through the story, the screenwriter ran off.
