🔷 Ethereum $ETH v and Base stop efforts to build a common wallet standard
Ethereum and Base (a network supported by Coinbase $COIN ) have officially halted efforts to develop a new-generation common standard for cryptocurrency wallets. The project’s initial goal was to modernize the user experience—enabling passkey login, diversifying account recovery methods, allowing applications to pay transaction fees, and bundling multiple blockchain actions into a single transaction.
The effort fell apart due to differences in core priorities. Ethereum focuses on EIP-8141 (Frame Transactions) to protect privacy, resist censorship, ensure security, and prepare for the quantum computing era. Meanwhile, Base proposed EIP-8130 to optimize transactions for large volumes and for applications that require legal/compliance adherence.
